Book Exhibition and a Special Lecture organized at M M Modi College, Patiala
Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala organized a special lecture along with a book-exhibition. Punjabi Department of the college organized this programme in collaboration with the Publication Bureau, Punjabi University, Patiala and with support of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. A special lecture on the topic ‘Religion, Philosophy and Literature: an inter-contextual approach’ was also organized. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Harpal Singh Pannu, Chairperson, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Chair, Central University Punjab, Bathinda.
College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the speaker and said that religion, philosophy and literature are three main streams of knowledge to understand the human existence. Religious texts, philosophy books and literature are important to solve the critical questions of human society and its sufferings. Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Head, Dept. of Punjabi formally introduced the guest speaker. He said that Dr. Pannu is an authority on Indian Philosophy and Sikh Religious consciousness.
In his lecture, Dr. Pannu shared his life experiences with the students. He motivated the students to read books thoroughly and said that books are the lighthouse of wisdom and knowledge. Citing many classical texts of poetry and philosophy he elaborated the importance of inter-contextual interpretations of these texts.
There was an interaction between the students and the main speaker after the lecture. Dr. Harpal Singh Pannu and Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar also formally inaugurated the book exhibition. This book exhibition was organized to provide classical texts on nominal rates to the students by Publication Bureau, Punjabi University, Patiala and Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. Students and teachers purchased books on different subjects in Punjabi, Hindi, English and Urdu. The stage was conducted by Dr. Davinder Singh. The special lecture was also attended by Prof. Ved Parkash, Dr. Ajit Kumar, Dr. Ganesh Sethi, Dr. Harmohan Sharma, Dr. Rupinder Sharma, Prof. Gurpreet Singh, Dr. Gurjant Singh, Dr. Harman Singh and Dr. Harpreet Singh.
The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Deepak Kumar. Momento was also presented to the guest speaker.

ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਖੇ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਅਤੇ ‘ਧਰਮ, ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ
ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਪਬਲੀਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਬਿਊਰੋ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਕਾਦਮੀ, ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪੋਸਟ-ਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ‘ਧਰਮ, ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ : ਅੰਤਰ-ਸੰਵਾਦ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵੀ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਡਾ. ਹਰਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੰਨੂ, ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਚੇਅਰਪਰਸਨ, ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੇਅਰ, ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ, ਬਠਿੰਡਾ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ। ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਧਰਮ, ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਤਿੰਨੇ ਵਿਧਾਵਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੁੰਝਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਲਝਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਮੁੱਖ ਕੁੰਜੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਆਲੋਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਜਾਂਚ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਮੰਤਰ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥਾਂ, ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ਵਕਤਾ ਦੀ ਰਸਮੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਡਾ. ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ, ਮੁਖੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਡਾ. ਪੰਨੂ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਆਦਰਸ਼ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਸਰੋਤ ਵੀ ਹਨ।
ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ. ਹਰਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੰਨੂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੂਝਦਿਆਂ ਵੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਚਿਣਗ ਜਗਦੀ ਰੱਖਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਮਹਾਂਕਵੀ ਕਾਲੀਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਰਚਨਾ ‘ਮੇਘਦੂਤ’ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਈ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਕਲਪਨਾ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਦੀ ਸਾਰਥਿਕਤਾ ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ‘ਨਾਗਸੈਨ’ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਾਤਮਾ ਬੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਫਲਸਫੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕੀਤੇ। ਇਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਟਾਂਦਰਾ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਮੰਚ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਡਾ. ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਬਾਖੂਬੀ ਨਿਭਾਇਆ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਵੇਦ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼, ਡਾ. ਅਜੀਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਡਾ. ਗਣੇਸ਼ ਸੇਠੀ, ਡਾ. ਹਰਮੋਹਨ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਡਾ. ਰੁਪਿੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਡਾ. ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ, ਡਾ. ਹਰਮਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ। ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਦੀਪਕ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਡਾ. ਹਰਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੰਨੂ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗਾਈ ਗਈ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਦਾ ਰਸਮੀ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਕਾਦਮੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਉੱਚ ਮਿਆਰੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਉਪਲਬਧ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਉੱਥੇ ਪਬਲੀਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਬਿਊਰੋ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਤੇ ਢੁੱਕਵੀਆਂ ਛੋਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ, ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਸਟਾਫ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ, ਹਿੰਦੀ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਰਦੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਖਰੀਦਣ ਲਈ ਭਾਰੀ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
